"My parents raised me to look for the good in every situation. They often reminded me that things happen for a reason, even if you don't recognize why. When a family member was diagnosed with cancer, it briefly challenged my ‘always look on the bright side' mentality. But watching a loved one struggle with something so huge quickly put life into perspective. While going about our daily routines, it can be easy to forget that small acts of kindness can change someone's entire day. When I found out about some of the Company's programs that support cancer patients and their families, I jumped at the chance to volunteer. Whether it's manning a booth to sell pink ribbons for breast cancer research or helping to serve dinner at the Hope Lodge, knowing I'm fortunate enough to be able to help others, even in a small capacity, makes each day worth it." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I consider two places in this world my home: where I live now in Birmingham, U.K., and where I grew up in northern Iraq. Sadly, the rivers that I used to play in as a child have dried up, and Birmingham is one of the most polluted areas in the country. Experiencing the effects of climate change firsthand has inspired me to help the planet, ensuring future generations get to experience the magnificence of this Earth. Sustainability can be intimidating, but understanding your impact is a great first step. Did you know that plastic takes around 450 years to decompose? It's surreal, but all those disposable cups and utensils you've used are still out there somewhere. While ditching your single-use water bottle might seem like an insignificant change, it creates a huge ripple. Luckily for us, sustainability is more accessible than ever before, with brands from every industry becoming more eco-friendly. It's no different at Henry Schein. In my short time with the Company, I've seen how far we've come in reducing our negative contributions to the planet. It takes all of us, but sustainability doesn't have to mean sacrifice. There's nothing to lose but so much to gain." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"It's almost incomprehensible to stand on top of a mountain. To look out across the horizon, knowing what you just conquered — you almost can't put words to the sense of awe you feel. And it's not just admiration for the vastness of nature, but the respect you gain for yourself. You never realize what you're able to accomplish until it's done. Four years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith, abandoning my comfort zone to join Henry Schein. It can seem impossible in your first few weeks, if not months, at a new job. Getting acquainted with both the company and your new role while laying the foundation for strong relationships can be an overwhelming prospect. Fortunately, the people here are not only welcoming but want to help you succeed. Looking back, I feel like I'm conquering something great — it was the best decision I could have made." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"For many women including myself, having a family can put a strain on your professional life. There's pressure to return to work quickly after having a baby, sacrificing time with your children for fear that your career — which you've spent a lifetime building — will suffer. Growing up in Yugoslavia, I had watched most of the women I knew go back to work shortly after having children. It was a societal norm. When I became a mother, I went back to the office just three months after my children were born. Looking back, I'm very happy with all that I've accomplished, but I sometimes wish I was immune to the guilt that comes along with maternity leave. You feel it on both ends — for that fact that someone is covering your job responsibilities, or conversely, that someone else is caring for your family. I've always been passionate about equality and helping other women overcome challenges and stigmas like these. I feel proud to now be in a position with the Women's Leadership Network to influence initiatives that will keep advancing opportunities for women." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN #WomenWhoSchein #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias

"I had a college professor who was quite outspoken on behalf of women. During my three years under her leadership, I was pushed harder than I ever had been before. She demanded perfection because she knew what we were up against as women. But despite my work ethic and networking skills, I was still often overlooked, talked down to, or disregarded professionally because of my sex. It's something you come to expect but are never fully prepared for. Despite all of that, the relentless desire for equality that she instilled in me prevailed. I can still hear her voice in my head, speaking words of encouragement during difficult times. I hope that I've been able to mentor and impact many women along the way as my professor did for me. Knowing that your voice is heard — even by one person — makes all the difference as we work toward equality." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN #WomenWhoSchein #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias

"'I deserve to be here.' It's a phrase I've repeated to myself often since entering a career in tech. Women only represent about 30 percent of the workforce in this industry, and there have been many roadblocks I've had to overcome to get to where I am today. There's interesting research on the challenges we experience in STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and math) industries like alienation, bias, and not being seen as having leadership potential, to name a few. But it's our responsibility to break the mold. Staying silent is detrimental and can be a disservice to other women who are trying to follow a similar path. I implore you to find the people who will listen, and speak up. The road less traveled is never easy — but it is worth it." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN #WomenWhoSchein #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias

Learning from those who have experience beyond your own helps you make better decisions. My career has been profoundly impacted by my network, but one mentor at Henry Schein stands out. She was — and still is — a phenomenal role model who has encouraged me to be authentic and bold, make mistakes and then bravely make some more. Her guidance and advice have been formative in how I define my own leadership style. While there are still struggles to overcome and ceilings to break, I believe we want to get to the executive suite more than ever before. When Henry Schein launched the Women's Leadership Network (WLN) employee resource group (ERG), I felt supported — like I was working for an organization that was paying attention to their Team Schein Members' needs. The challenges continue to be there, but by joining this amazing group of women and our allies, I know we're creating an environment where others don't have to relive our struggles." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN #WomenWhoSchein #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias

"Did you know the biggest industry in Nashville is health care? It's funny — in college, I wanted a career in music, but I moved here 10 years ago because of my role in the medical industry. It was hard to resist after traveling here frequently for work. Henry Schein has always supported me to go after what I want, and the move was no different. Throughout my 26-year career here, they've given me every opportunity to grow. I've had many roles and even more bosses — 14 in total so far. Working for a variety of people with different management styles has molded who I am as a leader today. I never set out to work in health care, but I love where it's taken me." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"As a parent, it can be difficult to maintain work-life balance, but the pandemic has brought my family and I closer than ever, despite spending most of the day in separate rooms. As a manager, my team is a little farther away — in fact, I've never been more physically distanced from them. It was a little nerve wracking at first. We had no idea how our team dynamic would shift after moving to remote work, but my concerns quickly melted away. It has been inspiring to watch each of my fellow friends and colleagues rally around each other and our customers during this insanely challenging and demanding time. The pandemic has brought about unimaginable hardships, but it has also fostered stronger connections, both personally and professionally. It really feels like there's nothing we can't overcome when we work together." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Every Tuesday in the Summer, my family and I compete in sailing races — we're quite the crew! From calling tactics to keeping the right course, everyone has to be in sync. The last thing you want to hear while onboard is, 'I thought that was your job,' and the easiest way to avoid that is to learn each person's function and how it contributes to the larger goal. I've been fortunate to have that same experience in my role with Henry Schein. I started as an intern eight years ago, and I know I wouldn't be where I am today without the support of each team member. When everyone is working toward the same destination, you'll go so much farther." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I've been an ally since I was an adolescent, and throughout this journey, I've learned the importance of listening. It's taught me to be truly empathetic to struggles that I can't possibly relate to as a heterosexual woman. I've seen too many people that I care about portray different versions of themselves depending on who's company they were in. They weren't comfortable that they could truly be themselves without consequence, whether that meant they would be treated differently or rejected altogether. To me, it's of the utmost importance to create a safe space where people can thrive professionally while staying true to their authentic selves." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"In 1997, the Company was expanding call center operations to Reno, NV when I responded to an ad in my local newspaper's classifieds. I was fortunate to be selected as one of the first five customer service representatives in the facility, and it's been amazing to watch the Company grow and succeed over the last 24 years. Not many people in the area knew about Henry Schein back then; now, it seems uncommon to encounter someone who does not. After working for a smaller family-owned business prior to joining Henry Schein, it was the culture that stood out the most to me when I first started. I've met some of my closest friends here and looking back, it's incredible to see how we've grown as individuals — all while working collectively to do our best for our customers, each other, and our communities. It's the people, and our shared values, that have made my career so rewarding, and I wouldn't trade my time here for anything!" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

I have three golden retrievers of my own, so seeing that the Company encouraged Team Schein Members (TSMs) to take time out of their day to help animals in need was immediately inspiring. I started off as a summer intern five years ago and made my way up to a full-time TSM. Looking back, I've taken part in many amazing community service events here, but the pet adoption program will always hold a special place in my heart." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I had just graduated high school and was eager to begin earning money of my own. As I learned my day-to-day responsibilities, my supervisor was very patient, always making sure that I had the support necessary to succeed. That was 37 years ago, and I'll never forget where I came from in this Company. Having experienced firsthand how patience can raise someone up — it's molded how I interact with and manage others today. There have been plenty of instances throughout the years where we have had a team member who wants to do well and succeed, but for individual reasons, they aren't able to get a handle on the work. Instead of leaving them to figure it out on their own, we always take the time to go through the process step by step, and that small amount of extra time typically leads to success. Having the ability to connect with others on a human level, working through challenges together — that's why I've been here for 37 years." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"It's hard to recall exactly what made me want to go into the dental industry, but I'm fairly certain it started with a great experience at the dentist's office when I a kid. My career as a dental assistant began in 1983 and, for nine years, I prided myself on providing excellent patient care. I loved my career but found myself at a turning point in life, making the difficult decision to step away from my chairside role knowing I still had a passion for the industry. Everything about starting over was difficult, but taking “no†for an answer isn't who I am. I found myself at Henry Schein, helping dental offices grow their business. It's the hardest job I've ever had but equally as rewarding. When you're building out an office, watching someone's dream come to life — there's no better feeling." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I was young when I got my first computer — a Windows Millennium Edition. With no idea how to get it set up, my neighbor helped me get started so I could play video games with one of their children. It was an early lesson in how technology could connect people. As I grew up, I realized I wanted to turn my passion for technology into a career in IT. With no real experience or degree, I expected to land an entry-level position, working on the same type of task each day. Instead, I found myself with a career path at Henry Schein. The work is diverse enough that over the past two years, no two days have been the same. I handle so many different issues throughout each day that I've honed my capability to listen. That ability to hear what a customer says and translate it into the correct solution has really helped me grow in this profession." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"When I got the news that I had cancer eight years ago, I felt like my world was collapsing in on top of me. It was one of the most difficult times of my life, and while the outpouring of love and support from friends and family kept me going, I still couldn't find my smile. After one hospital trip, I came home to a box sitting on my bed, filled with cards and notes from Team Schein. I had no desire to look inside, but my husband and brother began taking them out one by one, asking about each person who had written to me. As I recounted stories of my team members, I slowly found my smile again. Cancer has a way of making you feel isolated, but in truth, you are never alone — I'm so grateful to this team for standing by me." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"You never know how you're going to touch someone—how you'll affect them—and what impact your presence is going to have on their life. I was two weeks into my temporary assignment at Henry Schein, which later became my permanent role, when I met Teddy Philson. Through our conversations, I learned that he grew up on the same block as my mother, and she was not surprised to learn of his success at Henry Schein. Having seen him grow up throughout the years, she knew he had always been a friendly and hardworking young man. The way Teddy comported himself and the way he treated people inspired me. No matter what he was going through personally, he never allowed it to affect his work nor his interaction with his fellow TSMs. The entire Company held Teddy in such high esteem that an award was created in his name. The Teddy Philson Team Schein award is now given to those who embody the Company's values in the way he did. I am better for having had Teddy Philson in my life because he showed me what it means to be selfless. He showed me how to accept people for who they are and love them just the same. I am proud to be connected to a Company that upholds these values. I don't know for sure whether Teddy knew the impact he had on others, but I hope he did." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Team Schein is a tight knit-group—especially the sales reps. I've met some of my closest friends thanks to my career here and we're involved in each other's lives, personally and professionally. When we heard that our colleague and good friend's sister, who had been battling cancer, was accepted into a clinical trial, we were thrilled for him. But the trial would be lengthy and was located out-of-state—making it financially impossible for his parents to go with her. 'Why don't we raise the money for them?' It was an idea that took hold almost immediately, driving us to reach out to other colleagues within the Company, none of whom hesitated to help. Donations poured in and the funds came together quickly. We called our friend in for a 'meeting' and to his surprise, handed him the money that would allow his family to be together throughout the entirety of his sister's treatment. You don't see people come together like this very often. But then again, these people aren't just colleagues, they're friends." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Where am I going next? I've always been asked that, and normally I would be able to tell you about my next great adventure. But this time, the answer is 'I don't know'—and I couldn't be happier. If I hadn't said 'yes' to an opportunity at Henry Schein in 1985, I wouldn't be where I am today. For the first nine years, I jumped from position to position. The Company was smaller then, and I was happy to go wherever I was needed. For that reason, I never quite belonged to a group until one day, a mentor of mine decided I needed a 'home.' Working in HR had never crossed my mind, but I trusted his judgment. My new role afforded me the opportunity to travel to our other locations. The culture at each center was so different, but there was always one constant: the pride exuded by my fellow Team Schein Members. They were not only proud to work for Henry Schein, but also of their home towns. Each time I stepped off a plane, I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel like family. They didn't hesitate to show me around their cities, giving me an insider's perspective that I would have otherwise never experienced. I'm incredibly lucky that Henry Schein's culture made these connections possible, but saying goodbye to the people who had enriched my career was difficult. Nothing can prepare you for the emotions that come with retirement, but I was ready. Looking back, I owe so much to this Company. I have had the most blessed, golden life anybody could ever have, and I can't wait to see where I go next!" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"'Make a decision and own it.' I received that advice early in my career and it really made an impression on my young mind. Of course, it was with the caveat, 'Try not to make stupid decisions.' But even still, my mentor explained that I need to be willing to lay it all on the table, and whether my choice led to success or failure, it's alright as long as I'm open to learning and growing from the outcome. I'm grateful for his mentorship here at Henry Schein, because his open-door policy allowed us to explore big ideas together—the 'what ifs.' To this day, I'm known as a 'what-iffer' and someone who doesn't settle for the status quo. In the 27 years I've worked here, I've had a lot of great mentors who taught me to work hard, be adaptable, and have a sense of humor, but I'm glad through it all that I can ask, 'What if?' and have the support and encouragement to find out." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I had plans to become a dentist when my first child was born in the middle of my undergraduate degree. Of course, those plans had to be put on hold, so I worked to become a Certified Dental Assistant. I had always thought of dentistry as the business of smiles, so I was ecstatic to stay within the industry, even if I wasn't the doctor. For 15 years, I did the practice's ordering, and the entire staff knew better than to touch my Henry Schein catalog. I developed a great relationship with our Schein rep and through our regular calls was able to picture myself there. From the second I was hired at Henry Schein, I knew I wanted to stay for the long-term, but I also knew I owed it to myself to finish what I had started all those years ago. Working full time and going back to school was challenging, but I've been with the Company for 23 years now, and I'm proud to say that in 2012 I finished my Bachelor's degree" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

Unsure of where to go next, I began to consider new industries. The thought of starting over was daunting, but the prospect of new experiences was enticing. In the end, it was Henry Schein's mission statement that drew me in. Almost immediately after beginning my new role, the values proposed within the statement came to life before my eyes. "I have an entrepreneurial spirit that you get from growing up with 12 siblings. While most days during my youth were a chaotic whirlwind, I quickly learned to navigate personalities to get things done. At 21, I owned and operated a successful shoe shine business, and along with my professional development came a desire for another challenge. I didn't know it at the time, but the dental repair business I started several years later would launch the rest of my career. The company caught the attention of Henry Schein who later contracted me to do some work for them. I was subsequently invited to their National Sales Meeting where I got to witness their values firsthand. It was then that I realized I wanted to be a part of this team. While the financial aspect of being an entrepreneur no longer falls on my shoulders, I'm continually rising to new challenges and developing my team to be the best that they can be. Their generosity left me speechless, but if you were to speak with other people throughout the Company, you'd understand this sort of kindness is common. It's what makes this place unlike anywhere else. When they asked me to help with the opening of their newest distribution center in Reno, NV, I jumped at the chance. Because the Company's values had affected me so much, I quickly became known as an unofficial 'culture coach' within the center. "It only took a few hours working in the ER to know I wasn't cut out to be a clinician. I'd always been interested in the medical field and wasn't ready to give up on that dream, so I pursued a career as a 911 dispatcher. It was stressful work and I knew it wasn't quite the right fit either, but I stuck with it. When I eventually was hired at Henry Schein—it was exactly where I needed to be. It's a completely different environment here and in a good way. My coworkers, the field reps, the office staff—they're so willing to come together to help not only our customers but each other. Recently, I was humbled to find out that I was nominated for a Teddy Philson Team Schein Award, Henry Schein's award for embodying the Company's values, by someone who I don't get to speak with often. I'm very proud of what I do, so I'm grateful to know that my work has an impact, even on those I least expect it to. So in the end, I still wound up in health care." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Hearing my wife recount her days at Henry Schein left me enamored. Each story provided a glimpse into the Company's culture, and I quickly gleaned that this was a place that cared for its people. The family-like atmosphere she described left me wanting to grow my career there, and while I wasn't aware at the time, my decision to join would impact me forever. Henry Schein regularly offers free wellness exams for a variety of common concerns, and on that particular day, I had chosen to participate in a cardiovascular check. It was going well until the nurse expressed concern for a swollen nodule and encouraged me to get it checked more closely. Cancer is a very difficult diagnosis to hear and an even harder one to process, but thankfully we caught it early. If it weren't for that screening, I might not have been so lucky. I owe so much to this Company—not only my career but my health—and for that I couldn't be more grateful." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Ever since I picked up a camera, the Milky Way has been something I've wanted to photograph. One night during a vacation, my husband and I drove out to the woods to capture it. I was shooting from the car and during one of the shots, he accidentally stepped on the brakes, lighting the sky red. It turned out to be one of the most incredible photos I've ever taken. Every photo I take challenges me to look at things through a different lens. This is something I try to remember every day at work—to understand the customer, sometimes you need to see things from their perspective. At Henry Schein, I handle group accounts, and when a customer is with a large company, they sometimes worry that they're not going to get the individual attention they want. When I look at it from their perspective, I can understand their concerns and I'm able to reassure them that they're my number one priority. At the end of the day, they always feel confident that we have their best interest at heart." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I seem to always be in the wrong place at the right time. About 18 years ago I was managing two movie theatres when I was chased with an ax through the parking lot. Long story short, as my manager recommended I get body armor sewn into my suit, I decided it was time to leave. I took a temp job at Henry Schein expecting to be here for two weeks while I was looking for jobs elsewhere, but that two weeks turned into more than 18 years. It's simply a good company to work for. It has a strong foundation in caring, and caring goes a long way for everything. That's something I realized right away when I started here, and it's clear that I ended up where I was meant to be." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

Part 2
"I seem to have had travel issues my whole life. It can be a nuisance, but there was one trip that 'went wrong' that ultimately changed my life. During a layover in Philadelphia, I met a man who was blind, Albert, and his service dog, Doxy. As you would expect, there were passengers that needed to board the plane first, and Albert and Doxy were in that group. It was a very small propeller plane, and Doxy was under the seat. Being a lab, Doxy was pretty big but behaved very well. I sat next to Albert and we struck up a conversation. He was working with Intuit at the time and was trying to open up accounting jobs to the blind. It was really neat, and we exchanged business cards. Meanwhile, we had been delayed on the tarmac for two hours and the flight attendant was giving Albert a hard time. I don't know why she was singling him out, but if I had to guess, she was probably just fed up with dogs on flights. After two hours, Doxy needed to get out from under the seat to stretch his legs, and that's when the flight attendant threatened to pull Albert and Doxy off the flight. A few moments later, that's exactly what happened. As she, Albert and Doxy went to the front of the plane, we thought we'd hit our limit on the tarmac. I heard the flight attendant ask Albert to get off, claiming he was being belligerent. I can assure you from our conversation that he was not a belligerent man. So when I overheard this, I picked up my cell phone, called him and said, 'Albert, I'm getting up. I'm going to get off the flight with you and drive you home.' I could hear him getting choked up. As we deplaned, the rest of the passengers actually got off in support of Albert and Doxy too. Albert and I still talk to this day. Since that incident, he's become an advocate for blind rights and runs a charity called 'My Blind Spot.'" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

Part 3
"It was just one of those tough days at work when you need to take a drive to clear your head. I found myself in a part of town I had never been to before. As I was turning around, I noticed a house fire that was quickly spreading to the home next door. Then, I saw a man running into the second house—not out of it—so I parked my car and ran to the door. I could see that the back door was open and I wasn't sure if he was still in the house, so I started yelling to him. I'm about to go into a burning building and it's like, 'OK, the person's not answering me,' so I started shouting out how much time I felt he had until he really needed to get out. Thankfully, he got out as I started letting him know there wasn't much time left.
He came out wearing only sport shorts and carrying some papers he had saved. By this point, a helicopter and a whole bunch of neighbors showed up, and he goes 'Wow, this really doesn't look right. I'm in my shorts and nothing else.' I realized that I could give him my shirt, so I did, along with what I had in my wallet, and my business card in case he needed anything else. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished. As soon as I got into my car, I realized I was out of gas, I'd just emptied my wallet, and I was shirtless. It was just a little funny. He gave me a call a few days later after he'd found my card. He said, 'I keep telling everybody how someone ran into the house, got me out, gave me their shirt and a hundred bucks, and took off. Who does that?' It was nice to hear that things were going well for him, and it sounded like he was on his path to recovery. Looking back, the shirt off the back might have been a little much. As I was handing it to him, I was thinking it was a little cliché, but it was the right thing to do. It was the least I could do." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
(Part 3/4)
Part 4
"People ask how I'm so calm. At work, losing your cool doesn't really get anything done. And in general, when there's an issue for one reason or another, I know getting upset doesn't solve anything. In 2010, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was unexpected, and my doctor had a terrible bedside manner, so I was very upset and mentioned it to my manager. I told her what I was going through and how I couldn't get an appointment with a specialist. My manager had a conversation with friends and colleagues, which led to one of my fellow TSMs getting me an appointment for the following morning. It turned out to be benign, but for the 48 hours that I thought I had a life-threatening brain tumor, I was obviously very stressed. You look at this organization and when you need someone, somebody steps up. It comes naturally for all TSMs, simply because of the culture. Believe it or not, you hear stories like mine from so many people throughout the organization. Whether it's folks with Henry Schein Cares or other groups, everyone digs in and does their part. It just goes to show that this was the right place for me all along." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"When I started working at Henry Schein in 1982, I immediately knew that this was a company that cared about its employees and their development. As the Company has grown, that feeling of community has not changed. Henry Schein has always provided me with opportunities to advance, and now I have been given the chance to embark on my next adventure—working from home. While I will miss seeing my Henry Schein family every day, I know that the sense of community I've felt since day one here will not change. Henry Schein has always granted me the opportunities to grow and gain the experience needed to develop personally and professionally, and I couldn't be more thankful." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Donna Bond, Outbound Telesales Representative Henry Schein Dental: Melville, NY 35 Years with Henry Schein
"I like to make connections with people, and it's very important to me to bring people together. It's why I joined Human Resources when I first started here at Henry Schein. Now, I'm working with the Business Events Team. I have the honor to play a role in bringing thousands of Team Schein Members together for National Sales Meetings and other events. Over my ten years here, I've met so many people in the Company and have learned about what it means to be one business, "One Schein," globally. So I am always trying to make introductions between TSMs who might not otherwise have met. By making these connections, I feel like I'm making a big difference for Team Schein and for the Company." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Nasdra Gonzalez, Event Planner North America Business Events Team: Melville, NY 10 years with Henry Schein
"I started with the Company in June 1995 and the years have flown by. The work has never been boring, with new challenges along the way as Henry Schein Canada, Inc. has changed and grown over time. I feel fortunate that I get to call the great people of Team Schein my colleagues and friends. Everybody that I've come across here has been fantastic, and I feed off of the positive environment. People here know me for being cheeky; I'm always laughing. The work that I do brings me in touch with our clients, and I've always found that they are warm people with a good sense of humor. It's a good thing to have. Every day I strive to provide good customer service and do what I can to make someone smile." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Danielle Parker, Senior Accounts Receivable Collector Henry Schein Canada, Inc.: Niagara-On-The-Lake 23 years with Henry Schein
"I have a passion for aviation, and as a hobby, I learned to fly small aircraft. I've learned a lot from flying and see many ways that it has impacted how I approach work. For example, when you react to a problem while flying, you have to really look at it from all perspectives and pay attention to the details. But you also have to be flexible. If the weather changes on you while you're in the air, you have to stay calm and think about ways to react to that. It's the same at work. We're a large company and my team interacts with many different departments and suppliers; things can change really quickly. So I'm able to be a little calmer when reacting to challenges. I'm also more adventurous. I am never afraid to discover new ways to improve business and bring forward new ideas. Flying is something that I started just for fun, but I think it has definitely added value to my work." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Jo Liang, Manager, Business Operations Corporate Commercial Development Group: Melville, NY 2 years with Henry Schein
"I knew I wanted to work in health care in some way, and when I interviewed here, I was immediately enamored. I could already feel the sense of community, even in such a big company. I really enjoy helping people, and when I found out there was a first responder team here, I asked if there were any openings. I'm definitely the newest to the team, but it's been nice to be a part of it. We're here to help and I wanted to be able to give back to a Company that's helped me so much. I work in Outbound Sales and I love the partnership part of my job. One thing I've learned working with our Field Reps is that building trust with your customers is the most important thing. Trust is more important than price. Like I said, I love helping people, and Henry Schein lets me do that in a couple of ways." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Laura Cooper, Outbound Telesales Representative Henry Schein Dental: Melville, NY 6 years with Henry Schein
"Prior to Henry Schein, I worked in the area and would often come here to use the payphone. One day, to pass the time while waiting for my turn on the phone, I picked up the 1995 issue of the Team Schein Update. I was captivated by the pictures of TSMs at various company events from that year. I thought, 'this must be a good company; look how happy their employees are.' I have been here for 23 years now, and I still have that pamphlet in my office to remind me of how it all began. One of my favorite things about Henry Schein is that every TSM is given the opportunity to learn and support the business. Everyone is important, and as a manager, I love seeing my team succeed. The most significant thing I have learned here, and that I always tell my team, is to be a giving person, help others, take care of others, and everything else will fall into place." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Julie Paluszek, Director, Outbound Telesales Henry Schein Medical: Melville, NY 23 Years with Henry Schein
"After receiving both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Commerce from Calcutta University in India, I chose to attend law school. After I finished my first year, I knew I needed to make a change for the betterment of my children. I came upon an opening at Henry Schein Canada and decided with my family that Canada was the right place for us. Henry Schein has been my home away from home for 15 years now. Even when I had an accident, the whole Company rallied around me and my family. That kind of support showed me what this organization is all about. I have no doubt that coming to Henry Schein Canada was the right decision for my family." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Ratan De'Golder, Administration Coordinator, Mail Room Henry Schein Canada: Concord Branch 19 Years at Henry Schein
"When I first started with Henry Schein I was in Customer Service, and today I work in Marketing as an Associate Merchandising Manager. I've been with Henry Schein for over 28 years, and have been fortunate to have been given opportunities to grow and evolve. Earlier in my career, I was presented with an opportunity to transfer to Florida, and I was very grateful for the chance to step out on my own. When my husband was called to the FDNY six years later, I stayed with the Company and transferred to Melville. I can honestly say that the people are what have kept me here all of these years; I have been fortunate to have great mentors. They were always there for me whenever I needed anything, whether it was for guidance, or to give me the push when I needed it. Henry Schein has truly been like a family for me and I couldn't be more thankful for my time here." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Kathy O'Leary, Associate Merchandising Manager Zahn, Product Merchandising: Melville, NY 28 Years with Henry Schein
"In my role supporting the Medical Group's Leadership Team, I get to interact with so many Team Schein Members, and we learn so much from working with each other. Trying to find solutions to help our customers as we do here, brings you closer together. You become like a family. There have been many memorable moments here, but the one that stands out the most is my wedding day. It was such a "Team Schein" event because so many of my coworkers helped to plan the wedding and make my day special. Team Schein Members took on many different roles. One was my wedding coordinator and Maid of Honor; one decorated the venue and cake; another sang the song to which I walked down the aisle. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect day, and my Team Schein family made it so special." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Growing up, I always wanted to be a baseball player. It was my dream from very young. When I had gotten hurt playing baseball in college, I decided to leave school for a while, but my dad made it clear to me that I had to get a job. Back in 1977, Henry Schein was a small mom and pop business in Flushing, New York. I remember telling my boss on my first day that the chances of me staying here very long were slim at best, as I felt Henry Schein was just too small a place for me. He smiled and told me he would see me at my 10 year anniversary. Although I laughed at him at the time, here I am nearly 40 years later! I became enveloped in the Company and with the people—it's always been about the people for me." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Paul Dellacroce, Director, Team Schein and Community Services Melville, NY 39 years with Henry Schein
"One of my happiest moments working at Henry Schein happened last year when I got involved with our outreach program. We connected with a local women's center and gave a presentation about the Company there. We ended up getting some resumes of people who were in need of a job. We hired two of those people and they were so appreciative. They thanked me for being able to show them everything that they felt life should be. I'm glad that I work for a Company that allows me to make a difference in people's lives." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Every day before I begin my work, I get up at 4:30 in the morning and spend an hour on fitness training. I joined my fitness center in 2007, a year after I quit smoking. I never would have thought that 10 years later, I would still be going there with the same diligence and enthusiasm as I had on day one. At Henry Schein Medical, supporting a healthy lifestyle is engrained in our company culture, and I always find that this makes my workday more productive. During my morning workouts, I plan my day and organize my thoughts: 'How do I best solve the problem of my customer, how can I get this order out today, how will I handle a difficult conversation?' I head to work prepared and re-energized, feeling ready to tackle everything no matter what happens in the course of the day. Each new workday is exciting, with endless new challenges in store for me. It never gets boring, and that's just how I like it." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Michael Gertling, Team Leader Henry Schein Medical Germany: Dortmund, Germany 23 Years with Henry Schein
"Every morning, I start my day by reading the quote, "It's better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared." I focus on this when managing my team to find a balance between being lenient and being realistic. Sometimes when you are the one in charge, you have to do things that people may not like. It makes you wonder what people think of you. So when I received the Teddy Philson Team Schein award*—it was a shocker. Since the award comes recommended by your co-workers, it felt nice to know that people appreciated and thought so highly of me." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Chris Edward, Tech Support Supervisor II Henry Schein Practice Solutions: Greenville, South Carolina 8 years with Henry Schein
"Since I have studied a lot overseas, it was important for me to find an employer with international spirit. After six months of working at Henry Schein, I got a great opportunity to work with the E-Commerce department and take responsibility for the German Henry Schein Dental website and web-shop. From then on, I was part of regular conference calls with members from the Netherlands, U.S., and Germany. It was remarkable to see how well it could work, partnering with colleagues despite thousands of kilometers between us. The launch of the website was an amazing experience. With that project, I got a taste of the international and open-minded spirit of Team Schein." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Anika Schenk, E-Commerce Manager Henry Schein Dental: Langen, Germany 4 1/2 years with Henry Schein
"I face some unique challenges as a manager because I work remotely, and my entire team of sales reps works remotely. It can be difficult trying to create team spirit and communicate on a personal level. But my team has been working together for a long time—most of us have been here for at least six years—and I'm proud of that. I think the most important thing is being accessible. You really have to overcompensate. Even though you may not work all together in an office, you never want your team to feel like they can't reach you." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Natalie Westfall, Executive Director Henry Schein Financial Services: Boston Area 9 years with Henry Schein
"When I came in for an interview, it was kind of exploratory. I looked over the different departments just to get an idea of where I was going to go. I decided the best starting point would be Telesales, where Curt started. Now I'm working on Medical, Dental, and Zahn. It's definitely challenging, but it's a good place to start and see what opportunities could come along. I've learned that I just need to be myself and take the opportunities that are presented. When you put in hard work and dedication, it's recognized." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Janis Brady, Telesales Representative Melville, NY 1 year with Henry Schein
"Our Company started in 1932 as a family business, and today with over 21,000 team members, we have many families working at Henry Schein including my own. This truly adds to the great culture at our Company, and it's something I'm very proud of. People often hear 'Team Schein,' and some might think it's just another corporate tag line, but it's remarkable how we've grown in size yet retained the family feel and team spirit within our business, which is how it all began 85 years ago." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Brian Brady, National Director of Group Practice Henry Schein Dental: Melville, NY 18 years with Henry Schein
"The loyalty here provides the business with some longevity because we all know the future of the Company is in good hands. You see some of these people more than you see your own family. So being here, you kind of have your Henry Schein family, and then when you're home you have your actual family—although in our case we merge the two. We don't discuss work much at home, but if anything we talk about the situations we come by and the differences in our industries. We'll discuss the challenges we face and learn how to approach things in new ways." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Curtis Brady, Field Sales Consultant Henry Schein Dental: Long Island, NY 10 years with Henry Schein
"When I was in Telesales for four years, I used to sit right across from my manager. She was the first person I'd see in the morning. If something happened over the weekend, she could read my face and ask what was going on. By the time I left she was calling herself my 'big sis,' and it became the kind of relationship that was about more than just the numbers. We got very close, and it's that way with a lot of people in the Company. When I walk down this hall, I know everybody on the floor. Everyone says, 'How are you doing? How's the family?' and it's nice." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Keith Brady, Field Sales Consultant Henry Schein Medical: Long Island, NY 7 years with Henry Schein
"I studied business administration in school, and when I finished I knew that I wanted to do the Henry Schein Integrated Degree Program. It's a program here in Germany for graduates to learn all aspects of a business before being placed full-time. The program takes you through many different departments in the Company, and I really enjoy that. You get to know a lot of people and experience new types of work. It can be a little challenging when I first get started with a new department. I have to get to know each new team and be able to adapt, but everyone is always friendly and helpful as I learn each part of the business. The most important thing that I've learned is to be confident. If you think that you can do something and have the skills to do it, then go for it." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Michelle Wahl Integrated Degree Program: Langen, Germany 2 years with Henry Schein
"I work in marketing here, but that's not what I studied in college—I was in information systems. Looking for a job after graduation, I saw that Henry Schein needed someone for their web-based advertising, and I fit the bill for that. I really liked the people I interviewed with, and I thought this job would be fun. I like marketing because I get to be creative; I have some flexibility with design and get to work with our art team. The creative side is important to me because outside of work I play music. I've always been a musician—I play and write songs with my brother. My team here is really supportive of it, too. Sometimes we'll be playing a show, and I'll look out and find that my manager or other TSMs came down to see us. My goals are just to do a good job here and make the best music I can, and Team Schein has the culture that helps me be successful and have fun with both." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Matt Como, E-Marketing Specialist Henry Schein Dental: Melville, NY 6 years with Henry Schein
"My department is new within the Company and I've devoted myself to our team's success. People are very important to me. I love spending time with my family and I'm dedicated to my colleagues. We work very well together and I love having the opportunity to spend time with my team outside of work at events. Henry Schein is not only a leader in health care, but a Company that does so much to give back to the community. I am an idealistic person—I want to work where I believe in what I am doing, and go home knowing that my work has helped others. Henry Schein is the perfect place to achieve all of this." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Rujinun Supamongkolset, Customer Service Manager Accord Corporation Limited - Henry Schein Thailand 5 years with Henry Schein
"I had always wanted to do volunteer work in the community, but I was never sure how to get started. Working at Henry Schein gave me that opportunity to give back, and now I try to go to four or five of our community service events a year. A big perk is that I am also able to bring my children to these events, and now they are passionate about giving back, too. After volunteering for a while here, I decided I wanted to organize a fundraiser myself. I like to think I'm a funny person, and I do stand-up comedy outside of work. So I decided to begin holding comedy fundraisers and donating the money to Ronald McDonald House, a charity that holds a special place in my heart. I love the family feel here at Henry Schein, and I am so grateful to this Company for instilling in me a love for giving back." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Cammy Halpin, Inbound Telesales Supervisor Henry Schein Dental: Melville, NY 27 years with Henry Schein
"From an early age, I developed a curiosity for how machines work. I have always enjoyed taking things apart then repairing and reassembling them. When I heard about this position at Henry Schein, I knew it would be a perfect fit for me. In my role, I work to maintain all the equipment in dental offices, so everything runs smoothly and efficiently for the business. My customers and my coworkers know me for being an honest person, and I take pride in that. I am a United States Army veteran and that experience has provided me with values that I have brought into my current position; Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage (LDRSHIP). I can't think of a better place to work where I can do what I'm good at and enjoy, and also incorporate my values." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Daniel Bohall, Equipment Service Technician Henry Schein Dental: Houston, TX 3 years at Henry Schein
"Looking back at my time here, I credit my longevity to my father. My whole life, my father instilled in me his work ethic and his attitude. Among many businesses, he ran a commercial cleaning company. Seeing the respect that he had for his workers—and working alongside them myself as a janitor—taught me how people ought to be treated. Coming to Henry Schein, I found a place that would allow me to grow as long as I worked hard. But even more, I met people who were great examples of what I thought a leader should be. I saw what was meant by 'Team Schein Values.' A large part of that is how you treat people, so I feel very at home." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Darren Garsko, Senior Manager, Contracts Henry Schein Shared Services: Melville, NY 10 years with Henry Schein
"Henry Schein is unlike any company I've ever worked for. As soon as I started here, everyone was so warm and welcoming. They really made me feel like I was part of the team. I've been able to grow over time by being comfortable in making mistakes and learning from them. My managers are very supportive, and they're always there standing by me in the decisions that I make. Beyond working with a great team, I was hooked as soon as I saw my first 'Theme Day,' where the office was decorated and everyone displayed their appreciation for our work. After seeing how engaged all of the Team Schein Members were, I knew Henry Schein was a special place to work." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"In 1976, I became the coffee truck driver—or as I like to call it the 'coffee bartender'—for TSMs at Henry Schein when they were a 76-person company on Utopia Parkway. Eventually they shut the building down and moved to Port Washington, and I thought I was out of a job. But Henry Schein went out of their way to find me a job within the company, and I will never forget the loyalty I felt in that moment. Forty years later I am still in the people business as the Facilities Coordinator, and I feel like I am just lucky to be here. If you are good to Schein, Schein will be good to you. If you're focused and do your job, you'll be here for a long time." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Jim Ragogna, Facilities Coordinator Melville, NY 41 Years with Henry Schein
"You have to be a little bit of an adrenaline junkie to work at Henry Schein. We are high speed, high pace, high velocity—I'm attracted to that kind of environment. It's not your typical 9am-5pm desk job. I never get bored here. And when I raise my hand to ask for help, there is always someone willing to step up to the plate. Team Schein works well that way. The fun and the laughter is a big part of it, too." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Bill Cancel, Director of Information Technology Risk Management Information Systems: Melville, NY 15 Years with Henry Schein
"I've been with the Medical Marketing team for one year, but I've been working for the Company since 2008. I started as a payroll intern while I was in school and eventually moved to the Community Service Team. I networked and built relationships until I landed my full-time position as a Marketing Associate last year. As I worked for different departments within the Company, the one thing that remained consistent was the fact that it's easy to wake up to come to work because I was always surrounded by great people. If your company has a good culture, it makes the day-to-day more enjoyable. If you're considering a position here, don't be intimidated by the big name. Team Schein Members are very welcoming and it's easy to fit in here." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Joe Gunning, Marketing Associate Medical Marketing: Melville, NY 8 Years with Henry Schein
"I know firsthand what it feels like to have generous and caring people go out of their way to help in a time of need. After my spinal cord injury in 1997, I received a tremendous outpouring of support from my local community. It drove me to devote a lot of my time to volunteer around town speaking to kids about overcoming adversity and coaching youth basketball. I feel such pride to work for a company that goes above and beyond to help others in need. And I'm especially proud that it's my job to write Team Schein Success Stories (internal news articles) because I get to spotlight TSMs who are doing positive things in the Company and their communities, and inspire others to do the same." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Tim Dunne, Corporate Communications Associate Corporate Communications: Rochester, NY 3 Years with Henry Schein
"Henry Schein is the best place to work. It's the people, it's the culture—for me, it's always been home. The culture here is what sets us apart. We give back to the community and place a lot of value on global outreach programs. TSMs are people-driven and care about their families, and that makes the working environment very unique. I am currently in school full-time and have nine year-old twins. I find the motivation to work harder and balance work, school, and family because of the great opportunity and support system I know I have at this Company." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Michelle Green, Manager Inventory Management: Melville, NY 21 Years with Henry Schein
"As a Field Sales Rep, my car is my office. I love what I do and I love the relationships I build with my customers. Helping dental offices grow their businesses and become successful is where my satisfaction comes from. Being on the road can mean longer hours, but I still find time to do things I love. I have 40 aquariums in my basement where I raise tropical fish. I enjoy traveling around the world to participate in lectures to teach people about fish. This also becomes an advantage when my dental customers are looking to add an aquarium to their waiting area. At Henry Schein, there are a lot of opportunities to be who you want to be." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Mark Soberman, Field Sales Consultant New York City Area 10 Years with Henry Schein
"I started at Henry Schein as part of an integrated degree program. During those three years, I passed through different departments and got the chance to do an internship at our distribution center in Indianapolis. When I arrived, there was a welcome sign at the door with my name on it. It's that initial moment where I felt connected with the Company. But, it's also about great work. I started with different projects within the German Marketing Team after I graduated. My passion has always been marketing for the young generation of dentists. So, I put all my ideas together and created a brand concept. Today the brand called dent.talents. is implemented and it's great seeing it grow every day. I learned that people at Henry Schein listen and promote your ideas if they are worth it." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Theresa Reuter, Product Manager, Marketing Henry Schein Dental: Langen, Germany 8 Years with Team Schein
"At the time I was introduced to Henry Schein, I was running my own software development company. One day, a friend of mine who I worked with previously called me. He said he was now a development manager at Henry Schein and they were looking for some talented software engineers to create a new dental application. During our discussion, he explained the Company's commitment to 'doing well by doing good.' The concept that a company would focus on helping the community and doing good as a way of being successful intrigued me. He convinced me that I could achieve my goals of helping others, solving problems, and creating innovative products, but with a better work-life balance. Henry Schein has lived up to the promises my friend made long ago. I've found a tremendous amount of satisfaction in being able to help others, solve fun problems, create innovative products, and have time to be with my family." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Jimmy Nix, Director, Software Development Henry Schein Practice Solutions: American Fork, UT 10 Years with Henry Schein
"I started out working in Accounts Receivable. I kept a mind-over-matter approach, and always tried to work with our customers to help them build a better understanding of their accountability. Now in Greenville, I train all of the Medical FSCs and Telesales Representatives. I want to be the one they think of if they run into any trouble, and they know, 'Ed will listen and will help me.' Henry Schein has always helped to build a foundation for being proud of your work and wanting to do better. You can be what you want to be if you put the work in. When I started, I didn't have a college education. I eventually decided to get a college degree and now I'm getting a Master's. It's been a very positive experience, and the message is always the same: You can write your own career path." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Ed Garro, Training Supervisor Field Operations: Greenville, South Carolina 15 Years with Henry Schein
"I have always loved the dental field. I started my career as a dental hygienist but wasn't feeling fulfilled. Sometimes, when you're young, you don't see other avenues. But, coming to Henry Schein has allowed me to take my passion for dentistry into a corporate setting. This Company is not like any other. Like I tell our sales reps, when you have a concern, people listen, and if it has a valid point, they're always willing to make a change for the better. It's the culture." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
