Advancing Access to Care

Advancing Access to Care

Henry Schein Cares Foundation

Persistent inequities and other barriers continue to prevent many from accessing the care they need to maintain their health and wellbeing. We support organizations and initiatives that help health care professionals and community-based programs advance health equity by closing the gap in access to care for underserved and underrepresented populations.

Alpha Omega Henry Schein Cares Foundation Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program

The Alpha Omega Henry Schein Cares Foundation Holocaust Survivors Oral Health program was created in response to the White House's 2014 call to action to develop innovative public-private partnerships to help Holocaust survivors. Henry Schein Cares Foundation supports and provides in-kind services as part of this innovative collaboration across sectors. Since its inception, the program has provided more than 2,500 Holocaust survivors across North America with pro bono dental care valued at over $5 million. By increasing Holocaust survivors' access to oral care, the program seeks to significantly enhance their overall quality of life. Click here to learn more.

UBC

This dental education and service-focused program is a leader across North America in both its didactic and clinical service for the complexities of care for seniors. Henry Schein's partnership with UBC has advanced access to oral health care and support for seniors and improved access for at-risk and underserved senior populations while raising awareness of the fragility and limitations of health care systems to serve senior patients and supporting a culture of giving back to society among UBC students.

Fortune
Recognized by Fortune Change the World 2022 for Our Work to Increase Access to Care for Individuals With Disabilities

Together with Henry Schein, Inc. and Henry Schein Cares, the Henry Schein Cares Foundation works with partners to increase access to oral health care for people with disabilities, a community facing daunting hurdles in accessing care. For some, parts of the standard dental visit are physically inaccessible; for others, like those with developmental disabilities, the environment and experience can be daunting and ill-suited to their needs. In part due to these access issues, people with disabilities suffer higher rates and more severe cases of periodontal disease, gum disease, and untreated cavities, all of which can lead to other health problems. Through our advocacy and by convening stakeholders across multiple sectors, we are ensuring that more people with disabilities have access to the oral health care they need.
