What Does the HemoCue® Glucose 201 DM System Test For?

The HemoCue® Glucose 201 DM System tests for blood glucose levels, providing precise and reliable measurements essential for diagnosing and managing diabetes. This system is specifically designed to support healthcare professionals in monitoring glucose levels, helping to identify patients at risk for diabetes and to manage existing conditions effectively. Its advanced features enable accurate testing and integration with laboratory information systems, ensuring seamless data management and compliance with clinical standards.

Four-Step Testing Process for the HemoCue® Glucose 201 DM System

  • Prepare the Test: Insert a glucose reagent test cartridge into the analyzer.
  • Collect the Sample: Use a lancet to obtain a blood sample and apply it to the test cartridge.
  • Process the Sample: The system automatically processes the sample and displays results on the touch-screen within seconds.
  • Document the Results: Review and record the glucose levels, which are stored in the system’s data management software for easy access.

How to Clean the 201 DM System

Proper cleaning of the HemoCue® Hb 801 Analyzer is essential to maintain accurate results and ensure the longevity of the device. Follow these steps to clean the analyzer effectively:

  1. Turn Off the Analyzer: Before cleaning, ensure the analyzer is powered off and disconnected from any power source or USB connection.
  2. Exterior Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent solution or a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe to clean the exterior surfaces. Gently wipe down the device, avoiding excess moisture to prevent liquid from entering any openings.
  3. Cleaning the Cuvette Holder: Remove the cuvette holder from the analyzer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Clean it with a soft brush or a swab dipped in mild detergent or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting it into the analyzer.
  4. Disinfecting the Cuvette Holder: If necessary, disinfect the cuvette holder with a suitable disinfectant, ensuring it is compatible with the materials used in the analyzer. Rinse with distilled water and allow it to air dry completely.
  5. Reassemble and Power On: Once all components are dry, reassemble the analyzer, reconnect it to the power source, and power it on. The device is now ready for use.
