This U-flocked swab has been engineered with a precision scalloped surface to produce “cava.” This design creates a greater surface area to absorb and help collect larger amounts of specimen. The versatility of this 153-mm swab with a 3-mm diameter/20.5-mm long Allium-flocked nylon fiber tip is enhanced with 2 breakpoints, one at 80 mm and one at 101.3 mm. Present on the nylon shaft are notches that increase grip and dexterity while also reducing the amount of stress on the practitioner. Allium flock refers to the unique ability of the nylon fibers, which are attached with medical-grade nontoxic water-based glue, to adapt to the direction the swab is being pushed/pulled, resulting in less friction and an overall more pleasant experience for both the medical professional and the patient.
