3M™ Promogran™ Matrix Family: Advanced Collagen Dressings for Optimal Wound Care

As a healthcare professional, you understand the critical role that effective wound management plays in patient recovery. The Promogran Matrix Family is a highly advanced solution that offers unparalleled support in the treatment of chronic and acute wounds. Known for being the most studied collagen dressing globally, it delivers reliable results backed by clinical evidence.

What Makes the Promogran Matrix Family Unique?

The Promogran Matrix Family is the only collagen dressing uniquely formulated with Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (ORC), offering a distinct advantage in managing complex wounds. This combination of collagen and ORC enhances healing by addressing key challenges such as bacterial contamination, moisture management, and skin protection.

How Does it Work?

When in contact with wound fluid, Promogran Matrix Family turns into a soft, flexible, biodegradable gel that adapts to all parts of the wound.

This matrix maintains a naturally moist environment at the wound site, which helps to fend off common bacteria and pathogens. The maintained moisture supports new tissue growth, promotes granulation, and aids in the overall healing process.

Unique Properties:

  • Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose (ORC): Facilitates healing by modulating the wound environment and reducing inflammation.
  • Collagen: Supports new tissue growth by providing a scaffold for cells.
  • Silver: Provides antimicrobial protection against wound pathogens, reducing the risk of infection.

Key Features

Unmatched Research

The Promogran Matrix Family is a highly studied collagen dressing, with multiple randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews supporting its effectiveness.

ORC Formulation

The only collagen dressing formulated with Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose, offering unique properties for wound healing.

What is ORC?

Cellulose, a primary element in plant structure, becomes fully bioresorbable when oxidized to ORC (Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose). This material breaks down through fluid absorption and forms a gel as it degrades.

Effective Antimicrobial Barrier

The silver version provides a bacterial barrier that helps prevent infections, particularly in high-risk wounds.

Benefits

  1. Promotes Wound Healing: The matrix transforms into a soft gel in the presence of exudate, creating a moist wound environment that supports natural healing.
  2. Antimicrobial Protection: The Promogran Matrix Family includes silver, which provides an effective barrier against common wound pathogens.
  3. Compatible with Advanced Therapies: The Promogran Matrix Family can be used with the 3M™ ActiV.A.C.™ Therapy System and associated foam dressings, offering comprehensive wound management.
  4. Cost-Effective Solution: Reduce the overall cost of treatment by promoting faster wound closure and reducing complications.

When to Use Promogran Matrix Family

The Promogran Matrix Family can be used across a wide range of clinical scenarios under the supervision of a healthcare professional. The dressing is ideal for managing exuding wounds, including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers (stages 1 and 2)
  • Surgical wounds
  • Burns and traumatic wounds

It can also be used in conjunction with compression therapy and advanced negative pressure wound therapy systems, making it a comprehensive solution for wound care.

How to Use Promogran Matrix Family

To achieve the best results, apply Promogran Matrix Family directly onto the entire wound bed.

  • Begin by hydrating the wound with saline solution to initiate the gel formation. This method is especially effective for wounds with minimal or no exudate.
  • Next, cover the Promogran Matrix Family with gauze, a non-adhering dressing, or a hydropolymer dressing to maintain the optimal moist healing environment. Compression therapy can be applied at this stage, but it should be done under the guidance of a physician or medical professional.
  • Repeat the application and hydration process every 72 hours, adjusting based on the level of exudate. For wounds with significant exudate or infection, more frequent changes, such as every 24 hours, may be necessary. There is no need to remove any remaining Promogran Matrix Family during dressing changes.

Promogran Matrix Family: Additional Protection

For wounds at high risk of infection, the Promogran Matrix Family offers the added benefit of silver, a proven antimicrobial agent. It provides an effective bacterial barrier while maintaining the wound’s healing environment.
